My name is Marnix Spaans, although most people in Australia know me as Max. I started Spaans Bespoke Joinery in 2014 after moving from the Netherlands to the Southern Highlands. Since then, I’ve been designing and building custom furniture from my workshop in Mittagong.

 

I studied furniture design and joinery in Leiden and have spent many years working hands-on in the trade. I enjoy creating timeless pieces that feel practical, warm, and unique to each client. From custom bookcases and TV units to wardrobes, wine rooms, and full interiors, every project is built with attention to detail and a passion for good design.

 

One of the best parts of the job is meeting clients in person and working together on ideas. I always welcome people to visit the workshop in Mittagong to look at materials, discuss designs, and see how everything comes together. It’s a relaxed and creative space where ideas turn into real pieces made to last.
